Following the memorial, around 7pm please join us for our final meeting of the season before we take a summer break! SOMA’s Treasurer and Lead Taxonomist Mikhael Crystallah-Selk will present a timely topic! If you are wondering where else to go to look for fungi as the local rainy season ends, this presentation is for you!

Topic: Ecology of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest: How the Interrelationships between Flora, Fauna and Funga form the largest forest in California

Mikhael found himself out of work last year due to health issues and chose to travel to Mt. Shasta for 6 weeks. While there, he studied everything he came across, from the ground to the sky. Waking to the sounds of chipmunks chittering as they chased each other up the trees, then delving deeper into the woods to see what should present itself, he followed the various mushrooms up in elevation through the weeks. He came upon many different biomes, each with their different communities of plants, animals and fungi. Come explore some of the interrelationships between these multitudinous kingdoms of life and get excited for the Spring season!
